ALTERTRIP Interreg Greece-Republic of North Macedonia 2014-2020 at the 9th International Conference: “Tourism, Travel and Hospitality in a Smart and Sustainable World”
The Business & Exhibition Research and Development Institute (IEE), Lead beneficiary of ALTERTRIP project, participated at the 9th International Conference: “Tourism, Travel and Hospitality in a Smart and Sustainable World”, in Syros Island, during 1-3 September 2022. The presentation entitled “Accessible Tourism Businesses in The Cross-Border Region of Greece – Republic of North Macedonia: The case of Greece”, showcased the quantitative research conducted in 134 selected tourism facilities in the context of the Project “ALTER TRIP: Alternative Touristic Experience”. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the performance of the existing accessible tourism services and facilities, within the study area (Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Serres, Pella and Florina). Results of the study indicate that generally the situation in the study area is moderate, regarding the accessibility of the tourism businesses. Finally, suggestions that have emerged during ALTERTRIP implementation, towards the improvement of accessibility in Tourism Businesses have been communicated to the participants of the conference.
